by sarah • November 7, 2022 • Wedding Planning Guides

Weddings, weddings, there’s so much to plan! Aside from finding the perfect wedding dress and choosing the ideal venue, your wedding song hit list is up there with one of the most important aspects to get right. After all, your first dance as man and wife will stay in your memory for a long time to come. Even so, you shouldn’t let this decision be a stressful one. In fact, you should have fun with it!

The Internet is crowded with inspirational love songs and even more inspirational video clips that will send shivers up your spine and leave you melting in moments. On that note, we’ve done the hard yards and pulled five of the best romantic songs to give you a head start in making your final hit list decision!

“Thinking out loud” by Ed Sheeran.

Co-written by Amy Wadge and produced by Jake Gosling, “Thinking Out Loud” is an extremely popular love song that’s co-written and performed by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. In the clip for the song, Mr Sheeran spins a brunette beauty around in a (relevantly) striking white dress in a boutique ballroom setting – now that’s inspiration overload! If this is to be your chosen track, be sure to have a spacious dance floor where you and your loved one can work the space with some similar moves.

“All of Me” by Mr John Legend.

Coming from his fourth album Love in the Future, John Legend co-wrote this beautiful track with Dave Tozer and it was written as a dedication to the passionate love that Legend has for his model wife Chrissy Teigan. With a melody that flows so seamlessly and lyrics that describe how he loves Chrissy and all of her flaws unconditionally and wants the world to know it, it’s the perfect symbolism of everlasting and absolute true love for many newlyweds.

Kodaline – “The One”.

Released on 12th April 2015 as the second single from their second studio album, ‘The One’ is a beautiful song by the Dublin-based alternative rock quartet Kodaline. The song describes a fulfilled love that comes from a successful relationship and the lyrics are directed at the partner of the protagonist as he/she declares that his/her partner is ‘the one’ that makes everything seem perfect, even when things come crashing down. With such a powerful message, it’s no surprise that these guys have grabbed one of the top spots of the most popular first wedding songs of 2

“Who you love” John Mayer ft. Katy Perry.

This is yet another great collaboration of two top vocalists, not to mention a couple who are on their way to exchanging vows themselves and have just announced that there’s a baby on the way too. The love between these two really unfolds in the clip of this track and its transparency resonates through every single chord of the melody and note of the lyrics.

“Everything” by Michael Bublé.

With lyrics such as “And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times/It’s you, it’s you, you make me sing/You’re every line, you’re every word, you’re everything,” it’s easy to see why this Canadian makes the cut when it comes to the top first dance wedding songs. The lyrics couldn’t be more fitting and Mr Bublé has a way of showcasing their preciousness in a way that strikes a chord with even the fussiest of music lovers. Just remember, with the ideal song on play, not only will your partner be oozing with loved up feelings, all your closest friends and family will be feeling it too!
