Cat and Denise got engaged on their 18-month anniversary. Denise proposed to Cat, she had been planning the idea for ages, however the October weather was unpredictable so an indoor plan was devised.
The setting was the living room, decorated with balloons and rose petals with a speech printed on cardboard a la ‘Love Actually’ style, of course Cat said yes!!
The planning started off with a wedding planning book which was never filled in as the internet took over.
They googled for a barn in their area of choice, once seeing Heaton House Farm, they didn’t want their special day anywhere else even though the drive to the venue was 1 hour long, they fell in love with our famous Sycamore Tree.
Pinterest came in very handy for a whole host of ideas. With no theme in mind and just a colour they wanted to base everything on. The girls took the DIY route for all their favourite personal touches. Many a weekend was spent creating the seating plan, designing invitations, a photo board and activity books for their small guests.
Cat always knew she wanted a suit and she chose a navy blue suit and crisp white shirt, Denise however preferred wearing a dress and after dress shopping with her mum chose matching navy dresses for her four bridesmaids and a smaller version for her flower girl. Denise’s dress was chosen with an outdoor ceremony in mind. A white sleeveless fitted organza dress with a medium fishtail and a scattering of diamante.
The outdoor ceremony took place on the patio under the pagoda with view over to tree and beyond to the Cheshire plains. Just as Cat and Den were about to exchange vows the weather turned and a May shower began!
Determined to not allow it to spoil their day, the guest all had umbrellas at the ready and before the ceremony was over, the shower subsided and the sun shone in time for Cat and Denise to have SMH Photography take some amazing photographs under their beloved tree and in the private water gardens.
Barretts Event Caterers had the responsibility of serving their wedding breakfast. The girls had very specific tastes for their choices, a starter of goat’s cheese, chicken Ballantine with seasonal vegetables for their main course and a dessert of an amazing chocolate mousse. One of the highlights of their day were the speeches, they were amazing, full of childhood memories, emotionally charged which had the guests in tears, in a good way of course!
The evening party was held both in and outside as the views were filled with a stunning sunset that guest’s couldn’t help but watch with music provided by Twisted Etiquette who they had seen live several times before, and were fantastic!
Denise could not choose her favourite memory of the day, she loved everything from seeing Cat at the head of the aisle waiting patiently, to having a bouncy castle for the children, and when no one was looking, the adults. For Cat, her residing memory is one of seeing Denise for the first time after the building of anticipation throughout the day, even the rain was a treasured memory!
