Guests had a treat at this year’s Charity Ball on Saturday 14th March, organised by ‘Biddulph Moor Friends of Cancer Research UK’, as this year Heaton House Farm was transformed into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory!
Over 300 guests arrived with their golden ticket ready for a night of eating lots, dancing lots and raising lots of money for such a fantastic cause.
The story begins in Charlie’s Grandparent’s house with Grandma in bed welcoming the guests inside. Step through the door and the venue is bursting with colour! From sweet treats to Oompa Loompas, guests were amazed by the wonderful world of Wonka! Thank you to the Audley Players for making us laugh in your fabulous characters!
With lots of hungry bellies to fill, Vanilla In Allseasons staff began their service of a delicious 4-course meal featuring a Ham Hock starter, a chicken breast for main and a choc-tastic fudge pudding for dessert – all finished off with a truly scrumptious cheese board.
The entertainment blew the guests away! Performances began with a routine performed by LB Dance, and then Willy Wonka himself from Stage Invaders Entertainment took to the floor performing a fantastic display of mime work, just incredible!
The main event of the evening is the auction, full of amazing prizes including Gin Hampers, record your own CD, Lise Moorcroft pottery, Land Rover Experiences, Afternoon Teas and many more including of course, a delicious Willy Wonka themed cake supplied by Sweet Fantasies Cakes from Baddeley Green.
Led by Nigel Ashley, the guests went wild for the prizes, even the toilet paper sold for £50!
With the raffle complete and thousands of pounds raised, it was time to get those feet tapping and bodies moving to the tunes provided by DJ Krissi B; the dance floor was full from the first song to the last song of the night; our guests really know how to boogie – the sugar rush certainly helped!
What an incredible event, a huge congratulations to Janet and all of the organisers on another tremendous event! Also a huge thank you to those who supported the event either with auction prizes, raffle prizes, décor and of course the suppliers for the event such as Chelsea Shoesmith who captured the event for us to look back on.
When the event came to the end, the running grand total raised was over a phenomenal £22,000! Incredible!
