Jamie & Lee’s Fun-Filled Wedding Day

by sarah • May 9, 2020 • Real Weddings

Is there a place more romantic to get engaged than in Paris? Lee’s proposal was like something straight out of a film as he whisked Jamie away to Paris for her 30th birthday along with their two beautiful little girls.

Taking a boat trip down to the river, they sat enjoying a picnic in the gardens beneath the Eiffel Tower as Lee popped the question!

Of course, Jamie said yes! And she was absolutely delighted that he had planned the perfect proposal for her.

Once they arrived back home, Jamie and Lee began searching for venues. It took them a lot of googling, but they eventually found Heaton House Farm which seemed like it would be the perfect place for them both.

A member of the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team, Lee has a passion for the great outdoors so he wanted a venue that could offer fantastic countryside scenery. However, Jamie wanted something that suited her classy style.

Arriving at Heaton House Farm for a viewing, they knew they had found the venue for them as it was a perfect mix of both their styles.

They both fell in love and chose a date for their special day.

Venue booked, Jamie began the rest of the wedding planning – which involved going to lots of wedding fayres and having many girly nights with prosecco!

She really enjoyed spending the time with her mum and bridesmaids as they had lots of lovely days out which made the planning stress-free!

One of the main things that Jamie was excited to sort was her dress and she hunted down a pink fluffy one in Bakewell. Along with her mum and bridesmaids, Jamie planned a day trip to go and get it.

Her heart was set on the perfect dress that she had fell in love with…

Until she tried it on and absolutely hated it!

Instead, she walked out of the shop with a stunning, classic ballgown that was completely different to what she had imagined wearing. She then chose matching satin dresses in a delicate pink colour for her bridesmaids to wear.

With all the girls sorted, Jamie and Lee then went shopping to get some ideas for the kind of suit he would like to wear on the big day.

Little did they know that he would find the perfect one on their first shopping trip! He picked a brown, tweed three-piece suit that Jamie thought looked very “farmer-esque”!

To find inspiration for their décor and theme for their wedding styling, Jamie spent a lot of time on Instagram trying to find the perfect venue dresser.

When she came across Kelly Louise’s work, she just loved everything! Choosing an enchanted theme, Kelly Louise bought their vision to life with fresh flower arrangements and stunning candelabras.

She provided a mix of blush and rose gold cloths for the tables and decorated these with different candles, floral arrangements and a scattering of petals.

Kelly Louise also styled the Oak Barn for the ceremony by providing simple, clear plinths and stunning floral arrangements in gold vases that looked beautiful alongside the white aisle carpet.

With the venue dressed to perfection, it was time for Jamie and Lee’s special day!

On the morning of Sunday 26th May 2019, Jamie arrived at Heaton House Farm to get ready with her bridesmaids in the beautiful pamper room. They enjoyed spending their morning having their hair and make-up done, drinking lots of fizz and sharing lots of laughter.

The flower girls joined in too and looked absolutely adorable in their dresses and flower crowns!

As Lee was about to make his arrival, he was surprised by Jamie… she had arranged a DB7 to pick him up and bring him to the venue!

With everyone in place in the Oak Barn, it was time for Jamie, her bridesmaids and flower girls to make their way up the aisle. She chose to walk up the aisle to Ellie Goulding’s ‘How Long Will I Love You’ which always makes her emotional but she managed to hold it together for the romantic ceremony.

As a newly married couple, Mr and Mrs Briggs walked down the aisle to ‘My Girl’ by Otis Redding.

Everyone enjoyed a wonderful drinks reception filled with delicious canapes, a ‘Pimp Your Prosecco’ stand and of course, the fabulous carousel!

Soon, Steele’s Barn was ready for the big reveal!

The guests all made their way to their seats and awaited the arrival of Mr and Mrs Briggs.

The newly married couple entered the room to a huge round of applause and took their seats at the top table ready for the speeches.

Jamie wanted the speeches before the meal so that everybody could relax and enjoy their meal. Jamie’s dad got the speeches off to a great start, followed by the Best Man and Lee.

“Dad was a perfect gentleman on his speech and made me love him a million times more. And Lee choked up! That was very unexpected as he never gets emotional. As you can see in one of our photos, I had to put my hands over my face whilst he was talking. That made it for me”

Once the speeches had finished, it was time for everyone to indulge in a mouth-watering three-course meal. Adding to the enchanting feel of the day, the starters were bought out to the sounds of ‘Be Our Guest’ from the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack.

With the meal finished, the evening guests began arriving ready to party the night away!

Mr and Mrs Briggs then took to the floor for their first dance. They chose ‘The One’ by Kodaline as they thought it really reflected their history together and always left them feeling tingly after listening to it!

The Funtime Frankies then came on to do their set and had everyone up and dancing! And they stayed on the dancefloor for the rest of the night!

It was simply the perfect ending to Jamie and Lee’s fairy-tale wedding.

Jamie’s Memorable Moment:

Jamie couldn’t pick just one memorable moment as she loved so many different parts of her special day:

“My first moment was seeing the cake for the first time. Marise made a work of art and I was blown away by the love she had put into it, she’s amazing! Second, wow – mounting that carousel! I had my slippers on under my dress and wasn’t ladylike at all!”

But her absolute best moment was Lee talking about how much he loved her during his speech:

“You don’t often hear that kind of love in a relationship that you have been in for such a long time, but I certainly felt it in that room. Seeing him get slightly teary and full of emotion made the entire wedding. I love him more than ever!”

What did Lee think?

“Save more! Hahahahaha!”

Advice for future couples

“Just do what you want. Don’t listen to anyone around you with their opinions – have what you want. And make the most of everything leading up to it. We celebrated every occasion whilst planning and it was the best 2 years I have ever had!”
